유럽의 숨은 보석’이라 불릴 만큼 아름다운 자연을 가진 몬테네그로.

Montenegro has a nature so beautiful that it is called ‘the hidden gem of Europe’.

중세 시대 상업과 예술의 중심지였던 코토르(Kotor)에서 여정을 시작한다. 오루치아 광장(Trg od Oruzja)에서 베네치아 공화국 지배 시기의 건축양식과 문화를 엿본다. 최근 유명해진 등산로 코토르의 사다리(Ladder of Kotor)로 향한다. 굽이진 산길을 오르다 보면 코토르의 전경이 한눈에 보이는 성 요한 요새(St. John Fortress)에 도착한다. 하산하는 길, 요새 아랫마을의 산장에 들러 쉬어간다. 주인 부부와 함께 전통주 라키아와 전통 파이인 뵈렉을 맛본다.

아드리아해 연안의 페라스트(Perast)로 향한다. 바위의 성모 섬(Our Lady of the Rocks)은 어부가 암초 위에서 성화를 발견해, 그 주변에 돌을 메꿔 만들었다고 전해진다. 섬의 수도원을 방문해 어부가 발견한 성모자상을 관람한다. ‘아드리아해의 보석’이라 불리는 해안마을 부드바(Budva). 4대째 운영하는 어부 식당에 들러, 갓 잡은 해산물로 만든 요리를 맛본다.

‘검은 산’이라는 뜻의 몬테네그로가 유래된 로브첸산(Lovcen). 정상에는 몬테네그로의 왕이었던 페타르 2세 페트로비치 네고시왕의 영묘가 있다. 네고시왕은 최초로 법률을 제정하고, 오스만 제국으로부터 영토를 지켜내는 등 많은 업적을 남겼고, 현재는 몬테네그로 사람들이 가장 존경하는 인물로 꼽힌다.
네고시왕의 고향인 네구쉬(Njegusi)에서 몬테네그로 전통 생햄인 네구쉬 프로슈토가 탄생하는 과정을 살펴본다. 몬테네그로 동부의 작은 산골 마을 모이코바츠(Mojkovac). 이곳에서 몬테네그로의 전통악기인 구슬레를 만드는 장인을 만나본다. 장인의 아내가 차려 주는 시골식 음식들을 맛보며 여행을 마무리한다.

The journey begins in Kotor, a center of commerce and art during the Middle Ages. At Piazza Oruzja (Trg od Oruzja), you can get a glimpse of the architectural style and culture of the Venetian Republic's rule. Head to the recently famous hiking trail Ladder of Kotor. As you climb the curved mountain path, you arrive at St. John Fortress, where you can see a panoramic view of Kotor. On the way down, stop by a mountain hut in the village below the fortress to rest. Taste traditional liquor Rakia and traditional pie Börek with the owner and his wife.

Head to Perast on the Adriatic coast. It is said that Our Lady of the Rocks was created by a fisherman who found an icon on a reef and filled the area around it with rocks. Visit the island's monastery and see the statue of the Virgin and Child discovered by a fisherman. Budva, a coastal town called ‘the jewel of the Adriatic Sea.’ Stop by a fourth-generation fisherman’s restaurant and taste dishes made with freshly caught seafood.

Lovcen, the origin of Montenegro, meaning ‘black mountain’. At the top is the mausoleum of King Petar II Petrovic Negosi, the king of Montenegro. King Negosi left behind many achievements, such as enacting the first law and protecting the territory from the Ottoman Empire, and is currently considered the most respected person by Montenegrins.
Let's take a look at the process of creating Negusi prosciutto, Montenegro's traditional raw ham, in Njegusi, the hometown of King Negosi. Mojkovac, a small mountain town in eastern Montenegro. Here, we meet a craftsman who makes Gusle, a traditional musical instrument of Montenegro. The trip ends with a taste of country-style food prepared by the father-in-law's wife.
